RON DeANGELIS
"It's a place where you learn about winning and losing and the discipline needed to stick with tough challenges."
More than 35 years ago, Ron DeAngelis met his future wife while working on the Boys’ and Girls’ Club’s Halloween float for the parade. “I’ve been a member since I was 12 years old and I’ve had a lot of wonderful experiences at the Club,” Ron said. “But meeting Jayne is my most special memory.”
As a child, Ron spent most of his time at the Club taking advantage its many programs. “I did everything from vocational to swimming and skating, but the activity I enjoyed the most was going to Camp Russell in the summer,” he said.
To Ron, the Club is a place where all kids can come - no matter what their level of interest - and participate in anything they choose. “It’s a place where you make new friends that will last for a lifetime; where you can learn about winning and losing and the discipline needed to stick with tough challenges,” he said. “It’s a place with a dedicated staff and volunteers who serve as mentors to youth. When you take all of this and use it in your life, you will be successful in whatever challenges you face.”
Today, Ron is a member of the Executive Committee of the Club’s Board of Directors and serves in a variety of capacities, including Chairman of the Long Range Planning Committee. “I want to have an influence on making sure that the Boys’ and Girls’ Club will provide the same opportunities that I had as a child, and make sure it will be here for future generations,” he said.
Ron is Vice President of Operation at Petricca Industries. He and Jayne have two sons and a grandson.
