Evan Dobelle

Member of the National Boys' and Girls' Clubs Hall of Fame

Former Mayor of Pittsfield, former president of Trinity College and the University of Hawaii; currently, president of Westfield State College and president of the New England Board of Higher Education. He is a member of the National Boys' and Girls' Clubs Hall of Fame, inducted in 1999 for lifetime service to the community.

“I was at the Boys' Club under Fred Fahey and Jim Mooney. We'd walk over from Mercer Elementary School to Melville Street - the street of dreams - for all that was going on there, and, not incidentally, also for the positive reinforcement. One of the things I did later, when I was at Trinity, was to build the first Boys' and Girls' Club on a college campus that was run by students for kids.”
