“Lasting friendships are formed here.”

To David Harte, director of operations at the Boys’ and Girls’ Club of Pittsfield, youth come to the club for a wide variety of reasons. “Some members are here to escape, some to improve, and some to simply hang out,” he said. “But all of them are treated respectfully with an open door. Lasting friendships are formed here among kids of different racial and socio-economic backgrounds – friendships that may have never been formed if not for this organization.”

A member of the club throughout his youth, Dave became a member of the staff after earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Westfield State College. Today, he is most proud of the staff’s daily interaction with the members and its continued commitment to provide quality programming for everyone, regardless of a member’s ability to pay.

“It is extremely gratifying to work with such a diverse population who interact with each other so well,” he said.
