DEBORAH RENZI

"Everyone is welcome and everyone is treated as if they belong here."

Deb Renzi, who is the Board of Directors’ Chairman of the Program Committee and serves on the fundraising committee, has been deeply immersed in the Boys’ and Girls’ Club almost her entire life.

The game room was her favorite spot as a youngster, and as a teenager, Deb gradually took over as a volunteer helping with the younger kids. She has been a leading member of the hockey program since the early 1990’s, when her own three sons joined the sport.

“The Club is a place where kids can go and feel at home,” she said. “Everyone is welcome and everyone is treated as if they belong here. Notably, the Club subsidizes many programs at pricing that is within the means of families today. Without this, many children would not be able to experience valuable athletic and recreational activities.”

Deb said one of her main interests as a member of the Board of Directors is helping to make the community more aware of the impact that the Club has on the lives of youth. “Not everyone recognizes what goes on behind these doors on Melville Street,” she said. “We have thousands of children of all ages, nationalities and backgrounds who have access to excellent recreational and learning activities. By being a part of the Board, it enables me to be actively involved in all aspects behind these doors, while helping to create a wider knowledge of the daily activities and lives touched.”

A Registered Nurse with a BS and Master’s degree in Nursing Science with a major in Health Care Administration, Deb is employed by Berkshire Health Systems’ Home Care division as Manager of Quality & Special Projects. She also runs the office for her husband’s painting company, Michael Renzi Painting Co. She and her husband live in Richmond and are the parents of three sons – all who have been a part of the Club.
