TINA WIXSOM
Director of Counseling and Special Services
Staff Member: 20 years of service
“We are here to help our members build positive self-esteem.”
Tina Wixsom grew up in the days of “boys only” at the club, but her six brothers were all members and they still enjoy sharing their “club stories” and reminiscing at such alumni events as the Chili Chowder Fest. After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Education at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Tina joined the staff as director of counseling and special services.
“I think knowing that everyone here cares about them is among the club’s greatest benefits for children,” she said. “Our members know that this is a safe haven where we will support them in their efforts. Whether it’s through sports, academics or our program areas, we always show care and concern. We are here to help them build positive self-esteem.
Tina said she is most proud of the smiles on the children’s faces as they accomplish new things – small and large. “I’ve been around long enough to see former members here now with their own children, creating new memories, and that means we must be doing something right.” |
