Michael delivered the following speech to the Board of Directors at its 2010 Annual Meeting:
“Good evening everyone. First, I would like to congratulate all the award winners this evening. I would like to thank Peter Bell and all the full time staff for their support in my selection as Youth of the Year. A special thank you to Tina Wixom, Kate Brazeau, Dave Harte, and my family for all their help and assistance in the State Youth of the Year competition.
I started at the Boys’ and Girls’ Club as a three-year- old in the preschool program. As I grew older and participated in all the programming at the club, basketball – house league and travel, swim lessons, hanging out at the teen center and in the big gym, I realized how dedicated the staff at the club is. Upon entering high school and joining the Senior Leaders and becoming an employee at the club and Camp Russell, I saw what an impact I could have on a child’s life. The respect, dedication, and commitment I learned through the Club I can use in my daily responsibilities.
Once again, thank you to everyone for your support.”
